In addition to the area, line, and point information the following separate layers are also available in the web application of the geological map: a list of used ground documents, categorization (quality layer), a mapping review, and a structural layout. To quickly and accurately locate a territory, or a location the Search function is provided, which is divided into administrative, regional, geological and geomorphological classification.

Partial Monitoring System – Geological Factors

Monitoring serves to objectively identify the environmental characteristics and assess their changes in the observed territory. Partial Monitoring System – Geological Factors creates an inherent part of the national environmental monitoring network. It focuses mainly in so-called geological hazards, i.e. harmful natural or anthropogenic geological processes that endanger the natural environment and, ultimately, man.

Geoanalytical laboratories

The Laboratories provide a comprehensive service of analytical, physical-chemical and mineralogical works for the needs of geological research, exploration and prospecting of raw minerals, regional geology, hydrogeology, geochemical mapping and environmental monitoring.

3D visualization of the source spatial geological data from the territory of SR

The objective will be the 3D visualization of the source geological data of the 3D geological model of the Slovak Republic at a scale of 1: 500 000. The project will deal with digital and spatially processed data from geological boreholes and geological profiles.

Prevention, Survey and Monitoring of Emergency Landslides

Slope deformations nowadays have caused much more damage than in the past. They are proportional to the degree of urbanization of the landscape. It is very important to reduce the risks associated with slope deformations to the lowest possible level. Appropriate measures can prevent the occurrence of slope deformations, or reduce their consequences. The geological task will be implemented in accordance with the Conceptual Document of the Programme for Prevention and Management of Landslide Risks (2014-2020), which sets out the frameworks and measures for gradual reduction of landslides risks related to floods.

Hydrogeological survey of deficient areas of the Slovak Republic

The climate change is manifested in selected areas of the Slovak Republic by the occurrence of long periods without precipitation, which cause serious problems related to the lack of drinking water for the local population. For this reason, it is necessary to provide substituting or new water resources with priority of the groundwater, which would ensure the population’s access to drinking water during a longer dry season.
