On 22 – 23 November 2017, the first working meeting of experts from the Central European Geological Surveys of Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia, which was initiated by the State Geological Institute of Dionýz Štúr (SGIDŠ), took place at the headquarters of SGIDŠ in Bratislava.
The event was attended by the Secretary General of the European Geological Service (EuroGeoSurveys). The purpose of the workshop was to find out the real potential and acuity of the above geological surveys. A total of 20 foreign experts and 21 Slovak experts presented the to-date status and exchanged experience in four working groups for geological mapping, mineral raw materials, hydrogeology along with geothermal energy and geohazards in the form of a workshop. The findings will be the subject of analyses and elaboration of the ideas and recommendations for prospective cooperation within the Central European area.
